ToggleWhat Makes The Triveni Terrace Cafe Special
Triveni Terrace cafe is a cosy patio styled eatery located at the heart of an educational centre, The Triveni Kala Sangam. Founded by Sundari K. Shridharani, The Triveni Kala Sangam, a sanctum for artists remains a lesser-known fact to many. Sundari’s significant contributions led to her being honoured with the Padma Bhushan, one of India’s most prestigious award. What makes the place special is the beautiful intent that it was build on. This cultural and arts education centre was build in order to provide a space to all the artists and the lovers of art alike. The little steps taken in to bring this goal to reality were – allowing the artists to hold classes rent free, keeping the price of the food offered at the Triveni Terrace Cafe affordable yet not compromising on its quality and even waving fee for the economically underprivileged students. I believe, it is this kind of intend behind any cause that gives a purpose to one’s life and connects the hearts of providers and the consumers alike.
Ambience
The moment you enter the place, there is this distinct aura of creativity that surrounds you. Located at the heart of the city, Delhi, the Triveni Terrace Cafe cafe is a gem for all the artists out there. It is on days like these that the place undergoes a complete transformation and resonates a cafe nestled among the mountains.
The Triveni Terrace Cafe opens everyday from 10 AM to 7:30 PM. The mornings here are peaceful and the evenings mostly musical, so you can choose when to visit as per what your mood of the day and moment is. The gentle glow of warm yellow hanging lights enhances the atmosphere, particularly during late evenings. On top of that, the pastel colour palette that have been thoughtfully embedded into the structure tends to calm our senses.
Thoughts On Food
The Triveni Terrace Cafe menu is rather limited in comparison to the other eateries you might have visited. Yet the truth is that whatever you decide to savour will leave a lasting impression on you. I also appreciate how their menu adapts to the seasons, adding an element to the café that I truly enjoy. Depending on the time of your visit, you may find additional options, reflecting the flavours of the current season. Each meal has been curated to give you a perfect blend of taste and health. To name a few you can try the Palak Patta Chaat, Sabudana Khichdi, Gun Powder Idli, Beetroot halva, Carrot Cake. From the beverages menu you can try their refreshing Ice Tea, Masala Tea, South Indian Filter Coffee or Jaljeera. A special shoutout to their ‘vegetarian thali’ that is a replica of what our Indian mom offers us at home.
Exhibitions, Musicals, Theatre
Weekends at the Triveni Terrace Cafe usually have about 30-40 mins of waiting time. But worry not as you won’t get bored while waiting for your turn. One look around and you will find ‘your thing’ to explore! Visiting there on weekends could earn you a chance to be a part of the free musical night or an engaging theatre performance that takes place in their lush green amphi theatre. Exploring further you might also stumble upon the in-house art gallery that the talented artists use to display their artwork. Furthermore, there are exhibitions that take place at regular intervals displaying India’s rich legacy of crafts including but not limited to pottery, handicrafts and textile.
Rarely do we come across a place that is outlined with such a beautiful and purposeful vision. Having visited there several times myself, it felt essential to share about this place, its vibe and its deep-rooted significance. So, If you are in Delhi and you seek to immerse yourself in the embrace of Mother Nature, surrounded by art and music, far from the city’s hustle and bustle, be sure to visit the Triveni Terrace Cafe, at least once.
